The Best of Lake Minnetonka Since 1996!

Minnetrista

Minnetrista was originally settled in 1854 and retains the name given it long ago by the Dakota indians. Minnetrista literally means “Bent Waters,” referring to the rambling nature of the shoreline. As a matter of fact, Minnetrista boasts the second largest shoreline on Lake Minnetonka (Orono is first).

In the early days, Minnetrista represented the most remote part of the Lake Minnetonka area and was inhabited only by rugged loggers and trappers. By the early 1900s, the Upper Lake had become a popular recreation destination for visitors to the many grand hotels dotting the shoreline. Minnetrista remained relatively undeveloped for most of the 1900s, and was not incorporated as a city until the 1970s.

Today, Minnetrista is Lake Minnetonka’s fastest growing community. It is home to many of the lake’s most beautiful parks, beaches and waterfront vistas.
