The Beatles, 1968 – The White Album

Thursday – Saturday, February 7, 8 & 9, 2019
Dinner – 6:00pm
Show – 8:00pm

Released in November of 1968, “The Beatles”  — better known as the White Album — was the first Beatles double album and one of the best to showcase the band’s brilliance as individual songwriters while reaffirming their status as the world’s greatest rock band. Hoping to escape the trappings of celebrity, the Beatles had just returned from a spiritual retreat in India and the album captures their full eclectic breadth at a creative high point. Rarely-performed White Album gems include “While My Guitar Gently Weeps,”  “Blackbird,” “Julia,” “Dear Prudence,” “Back in the USSR,” “Martha My Dear,” and “Obla-Di-Obla-Da.” Treasured by serious fans of the band, the White Album is now being celebrated in 50th anniversary concerts across the globe.

Returning from two sold-out 2017 CDT Concert Series performances of Magical Mystery Tour and Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band, The Shabby Road Orchestra is an ad-hoc Minneapolis collective of original and live music veterans who play the music note for note with heart and skill, including vocalist Joe Carey, percussionist Ken Chastain, frontman John Eller (The Shiny Lights), bassist John Fields, Dave Foley on horns, frontman Adam Levy (The Honeydogs), Andy Nelson on woodwinds, vocalist Brandon Sampson (Six Mile Grove), John Sievers on horns, Paul Scott on piano, music arranger Tom Scott on sound effects and keys, harpist Phala Tracy and cellist Jacqueline Ultan (JelloSlave).
